Testify – by Wendy Patrick

I testify that God is good – He was all through the year
During the times of great success, and moments of despair.

He’s kept me on the road of right – He’d gently give a prod
If anything should make a try to shake my faith in God.

You all would know temptations that would tend to come our way;
But were it not for love and grace – where would I be today?

The many times God’s shielded me from accidents and death;
When careless drivers drive too close, and I can’t catch my breath.

You know the times I stopped the car for one minute or so;
And laughingly would ask the Lord “But why you love me so?

For day by day you’re shielding me along these tortuous roads;
From drivers who just cannot wait, and trucks with heavy loads.”

Financially, God has been there – I am no millionaire;
But God provided day by day – I did not have to fear.

The strangest thing is – as I gave to church and charity:
I found the more I gave for God, the more came back to me.

Some days my body was not well, some days I felt so low.
That’s when I would repeat the promises of God I know.

His words are reassuring – whether spoken or in song;
It’s always gratifying when the right words come along.

So, I can testify today that God is good to me;
As long as I keep faith in Him, my Rock He’ll always be.

They say next year will not be bright that it will start out dim
Don’t let that shake your faith in God – just put your trust in him.

And as we press on day by day let’s motivate a friend
To join this wondrous race, and then, to hold on to the end.

A Poem of Hope

I feel the arms of God around me,
as I lay on my bed at night.
Asleep, I feel the Angel’s touch-
I’m surrounded and held tight.

I don’t know why it is,
that God should love me so,
that he would send His only Son,
to hang there on Death-row.

He guards me night and day,
always bringing love and hope.
Somehow, I know I will survive,
for He will help me cope.

As a father has compassion on his child,
so my Lord has compassion on me.
I know I can count on Him-
There is nowhere from His love I want to flee.

They Say I’m Nothing, but I’m Something by Londeka Zondi

They Say that I’m Nothing, but I’m Something

They say I’m poor,

They say I’m nothing.

They say I’m poor and they say I’m nothing because I’ve got nothing to offer to any living soul.

I’ve got no money, no food, no child, no wife nor husband and no home to go home to that is because I’ve got no money.

But I say I’m blessed

I’m blessed because God told me so.

He loves me the same way he loves every life on earth. I’m blessed because I’m still alive.

I breathe the same air that rich men breathe,

I walk on the same ground that rich men walk . . . therefore  I am no different.

I am rich with life

I am rich with love

I’m rich with hope that one day they will see the beauty that God treasured in me because I am something indeed

You’re Always There for Me

When the world comes crashing in
And chaos rules my mind,
I turn my heart to you, Lord,
And pure, sweet peace I find.

You lift me out of trouble
You comfort me in pain;
You nourish, heal and cleanse me,
Like cool, refreshing rain.

In times of joy and bliss,
When things are going right,
You lift me even higher,
And fill me with delight.

You listen to my prayers;
You hear my every plea;
I’m safe because I know
You’re always there for me.

We’ll Get Through This

Lord, our troubles
Are so great,
We don’t know what to do;
The price for our
Iniquity
Is finally coming due.

The world is crumbling
All about;
No safe place can be found.
Right is wrong,
Wrong is right;
The change is quite profound.

Lord, we need
Your guiding light
To lead us out of here;
We’ll focus on
Your Word, and prayer,
To take away our fear.

Temptations of
This dying world
We’ll rule out and let go;
Give our burdens
All to you,
Shed all worldly woe.

That’s how we’ll
Get through this, Lord,
Fixed on heaven above,
Assured of your
protection, help,
And everlasting love.

This Christian poem tells of Jesus’ never-failing support for us.

A Vain Life

I’ve seen a proud man
Rise up in great pow’r,
Reaching to the sky
Like a mighty tow’r.

He had a fortune
In silver and gold
And beautiful homes
With treasures untold.

He had the pleasures
The world could afford,
But shunned salvation,
A gift from the Lord.

He lived a vain life,
Not counting the cost;
Though he had it all,
His dear soul was lost.

The Valour and Victories of Faith Victories of Faith

By faith I unseen Being see,
Forth lower beings call,
And say to nothing, Let it be;
And nothing hatches all.

By faith I know the worlds were made
By God’s great word of might;
How soon, Let there be light, he said,
That moment there was light.

By faith I soar and force my flight
Through all the clouds of sense;
I see the glories out of sight,
With brightest evidence.

By faith I mount the azure sky,
And from the lofty sphere,
The earth a little mote espy,
Unworthy of my care.

By faith I see the unseen things
Hid from all mortal eyes;
Proud reason stretching all its wings,
Beneath me flutt’ring lies.

By faith I build my lasting hope
On righteousness divine;
Nor can I sink with such a prop,
Whatever storms combine.

By faith my works, my righteousness,
And duties all I own
But loss and dung; and lay my stress
On what my Lord has done.

By faith I overcome the world,
And all its hurtful charms;
I’m in the heav’nly chariot hurl’d
Through all opposing harms.

By faith I have a conqu’ring pow’r
To tread upon my foes,
To triumph in a dying hour,
And banish all my woes.

By faith in midst of wrongs I’m right,
In sad decays I thrive:
In weakness I am strong in might,
In death I am alive.

By faith I stand when deep I fall,
In darkness I have light;
Nor dare I doubt and question all
When all is out of sight.

By faith I trust a pardon free,
Which puzzles flesh and blood;
To think that God can justify,
Where yet he sees no good.

By faith I keep my Lord’s commands,
To verify my trust;
I purify my heart and hands,
And mortify my lust.

By faith my melting soul repents,
When pierced Christ appears;
My heart in grateful praises vents,
Mine eyes in joyful tears.

By faith I can the mountains vast
Of sin and guilt remove;
And them into the ocean cast
The sea of blood and love.

By faith I see Jehovah high,
Upon a throne of grace;
I see him lay his vengeance by,
And smile in Jesus’face.

By faith I hope to see the Sun,
The light of grace that lent:
His everlasting circles run
In glory’s firmament.

By faith I’m more than conqueror,
Ev’n though I nothing can;
Because I set Jehovah’s pow’r
Before me in the van.

By faith I counterplot my foes,
Nor need their ambush fear;
Because my life-guard also goes
Behind me in the rear.

By faith I walk, I run, I fly,
By faith I suffer thrall;
By faith I’m fit to live and die,
By faith I can do all
